John Holloway started his career in 1976 at the National Westminster Bank, where he spent four years in the Credit Department of the International Division in London.

Following this, he joined the European Investment Bank (EIB) in early 1980 and in over twenty years had different responsibilities in a number of EIB Lending Departments. He began working for the Loan Monitoring Department in Luxembourg and then in the EIB office in Rome. Upon returning to Luxembourg, he was appointed Loan Origination Manager responsible for developing new relationships with most of the EIB's corporate customers in the UK. He then became Head of Division, contributing to the establishment of the new Credit Risk Department of the EIB.

In June 2000, following the reform of the European Investment Fund (EIF), launched by the then new President of the EIB, Mr Philippe Maystadt and which turned the EIF into the risk capital arm of the EIB Group, he was appointed Director at the EIF, with the responsibility to develop Venture Capital and Portfolio Guarantee operations in support of European small and medium-sized enterprises.

Philippe Roesch is Managing Director and Head of Auda’s European private equity investment activities, based in Bad Homburg / Frankfurt.

Philippe has 18 years of international fund-of funds and direct investment experience. Prior to joining Auda, he was Head of Private Equity at Harald Quandt Holding, where he was responsible for the family’s global portfolio of private equity funds investments. He started his career in fund-of-funds investing in the mid-1990s as a Senior Investment Manager with Deutsche Beteiligungs-AG, where he was responsible for the build-up of the global private equity portfolio of funds investments as well as direct co-investments in Asia, Western Europe and subsequently in the US.

He gained his direct investment experience first as an M&A-advisor with BHF-Bank AG in Frankfurt, later as a strategic investor with Deutsche Bahn AG Holding, where he was engaged in numerous M&A and joint venture projects in Western and Eastern Europe as well as a partner with the pan-European private equity firm Triton, where he focused on buyout opportunities in Germany.

Philippe is a member of the advisory boards or investors’ committees of a number of growth and buyout funds in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, the Nordic countries as well as in pan-European special situations funds.

Vince O’Brien is a director of Montagu Private Equity and has worked in the private equity industry for over 20 years.

Montagu Private Equity is one of Europe’s best known private equity investors and invests primarily in management buyouts of companies operating across a wide range of industries in the UK, France, Germany and the Nordic region.

Vince is also a former Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association. He has therefore been involved in representing the industry across a broad range of issues affecting the BVCA’s members and the UK entrepreneurial environment in general.

Jacques is Deputy Head (UK & International) of Hawkpoint and Head of Private Equity coverage and sits on the Management Committee at Hawkpoint. He has extensive experience advising Private Equity firms on acquisitions and disposals both in the US and Europe. He worked in the Financial Sponsor team at Merrill Lynch in New York before the last 8 years spent at Hawkpoint. Prior to Merrill Lynch, he established the Financial Sponsor team in New York for Charterhouse Bank and was an equity analyst at Cazenove and Co in London. He graduated from Cambridge University.

Alan is the Chief Executive of Hermes GPE and chairs its Investment Committee. He has been an active investor and manager in private equity for almost 25 years, both as GP and as LP, across Europe, North America and Asia.

Prior to joining Hermes GPE, Alan was a Partner at 3i, initially responsible for Scotland and Ireland before being appointed to the board of 3i plc in 1993. He was then successively partner responsible continental Europe, senior partner Buyouts, and then global lead partner Healthcare. He has been NX Chairman of a number of international private equity firms including SFK Finance Oy, Atle Industri AB, and 3TS Capital Partners SA. Alan holds an LLB in European Law and an MSc in Enterprise Economics and has a diverse business education including the AMP from INSEAD.

Ian has led HgCapital since 1990 having joined in 1988. As Chairman, Ian is also a member of HgCapital's Investment Committee and Valuation Committee. He previously spent ten years with 3i plc, in London and Dublin.

Ian has made over forty investments across a wide range of industries.

Ian is Chairman of LPEQ and has also served as chairman of the Investor Relations Committee of the British Venture Capital Association. He is a frequent speaker on private equity. He has a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.

Simon Turner, together with John Hartz, co-founded Inflexion in 1999 and is also joint-chair of its Investment Committee. Simon sits on the boards of portfolio companies Red Commerce and Jack Wills and also led Inflexion's investments in Aspen, ACIS and Pims Group. Simon was recruited to co-found Daiwa Europe's Private Equity Group in 1998, before spinning it out, in partnership with John Hartz, to create Inflexion. His private equity career has been spent wholly within the UK mid-market since the early 1990s. Simon holds an MA in Modern History from Oxford University.

By way of background, Darryl is a UK Chartered Accountant and has worked in private equity for more than 20 years. He passionately believes that sustainable success is built on a relationship based approach and a reputation for being trusted, fair minded and commercial. He is also a strong advocate of the role private equity should play in supporting local communities - the 'LDC in the Community' initiative has raised over £1m for UK, regional and international charities over the past five years.
